AICE Media Studies

Today, September 29th, my group began filming our commercial. We forgot one of our props and were therefore only able to shoot half the commercial. The other actress also could not film their scenes, even the ones that didn't require the specific prop. This is because if they filmed some scenes one day and the rest another day, the costumes would be different. We also could not film our opening scene as it requires both actresses'. I filmed everything and made sure to try and hold the camera as steady as I possibly could. Faith couldn't be in the shots today so she was a big help behind scenes. We were able to get a lot done because the media center was empty and we had no distractions. The first scene I directed was Janiya walking through the front doors into the media center. There was then a series of about 4 clips from her walking through the door to sitting at the desk. Each clip will have a jump cut transition between them.    ~In the first box we have two people walking on the stairs in different directions.  One of the people is getting ready to go and study and the other is going in the opposite direction to go for a jog both displaying their apple products also both with airpods in. ~In the second box it pans over to the first person in the library using their mac book to study for an exam in this shot it shows how the apple products can be used in an everyday resourceful way ~In the third box it goes over to person number two tying their shoes getting ready to go on there job it zooms out from their apple watch where it is showing the physical activity app that tracks heart rates and how active a person is. They are also talking on their airpods while doing all of this. ~In the fourth box it goes back to the first person it shows the person finishing their work/studying, now showing them packing up. Props- Since our commercial will be based on Apple, the multinational technology company, our props will consist of   electronics made by them. Products we will produce in the commercial are IPhones, IPads, AirPods, MacBooks, and Apple Watches.  Costumes- In our project we want to include all of our group members in our scenes. Our attire will consist of a variety of everyday clothes as Apple is a 24/7 brand used by millions of people across the world. Examples of clothing pieces like this could be blouses, jeans, pants, T-shirts, sneakers, and many more. With clothing we gladly do not have to be too restricted on what we wear. We however do not want to include too formal or too causal attire as that doesn’t categorize to our Apple theme. Schedule- On September 29th, 2021, we will create our storyboard.  My group is doing an Apple technology commercial. In apple commercials people are shown using different forms of technology and presenting the uses for them. When discussing costumes the actors would wear normal every-day outfits, as they are partaking in simple daily activities. Props would include numerous Apple products such as Iphones, watches, Ipads, headphones, airpods, etc. Their appearances would be put together, just average, as Apple products are attainable for mostly people of middle class   The score throughout most apple commercials is a soft and utilize popular songs and artists, catching the audiences attention and engaging them in their product   Conventions and codes of Apple include the apple logo and their motto "Think Different", but the bitten apple is all they need to distinguish their products. Group projects seem to be enjoyable but sometimes they can really stress me out. More often then not I do majority of the work in a group project and stress about it, but I knew for this work I wanted to be in a group. My first day in this class I worried about the projects and who I would be working with. I have transferred into this school due to the better education compared to my formal school, but I don't know many people and was worried I wouldn't make any friends. The first two weeks were difficult but I am glad to say that it has not been as hard as I imagined. This is a really big class and my only friends here are in A level, which worried me a lot for the projects. There are a few girls I sit by that I am friendly with, but I know I wouldn't work well with them. They are lovely but much too chatty and off task for me to be comfortable depending on them for work. I ended up getting seated next to Faith and Janiya and could not be more relieved. I was interested in taking this class after my brother and friends took it last year and the year before. My brother Zeke had media studies freshman year and I was able to watch him film and heard him talking about it all the time. Paola has AS last year and came to my house to film her music video, I thought it was really cool and they said it was an easy fun class. I really love films and thought the class itself would definitely be interesting. I love reading, writing and was really interested in photography and videography (even had a camcorder I would carry around but lost it), so I know working behind the scene would be lots of fun. When reading a book I immerse myself into the world of the characters, seemingly unable to want jump back into reality. I also love music, I am always listening to music and finding new artists and songs to enjoy, some including Deftones, Gorillaz, Radiohead, SZA, Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator, Portishead and Foo Fighters... to name a few.
