Me again

 


I was interested in taking this class after my brother and friends took it last year and the year before. My brother Zeke had media studies freshman year and I was able to watch him film and heard him talking about it all the time. Paola has AS last year and came to my house to film her music video, I thought it was really cool and they said it was an easy fun class. I really love films and thought the class itself would definitely be interesting. I love reading, writing and was really interested in photography and videography (even had a camcorder I would carry around but lost it), so I know working behind the scene would be lots of fun. When reading a book I immerse myself into the world of the characters, seemingly unable to want jump back into reality. I also love music, I am always listening to music and finding new artists and songs to enjoy, some including Deftones, Gorillaz, Radiohead, SZA, Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator, Portishead and Foo Fighters... to name a few. When listening to music I always imagine where I would be while that song is playing, and they all make me feel different things. With that said, I know making a music video would be very enjoyable and adding sound tracks to things would a fun part of this class. I have also always loved art and have been wanting to get back into sketching for a very long time, doing things like story boards will help get me back on that track. Further, like any other teenager I love hanging out with friends, going out and having fun. Some of my favorite things to do with friends are go to the beach, have movie nights, go to parties, or even just hang around in our rooms enjoying each others company. We also love to bake and cook from time to time, and have so much fun doing it, making pizzas, cookies, *vegan* chicken nuggets. Of course, again, like any other teenager, I spends time on my phone and laptop, I love scrolling through tumblr and Pinterest, and online browsing. Fashion has always been an interest of mine in the back of my head. I would love to do anything involving travel and the arts. Picking out costume and design for Media Studies projects will be really fun to do. However, I'm not always able to have fun and enjoy myself. School can very easily stress me out, especially when I want to be doing something fun, but I am determined to excel. Cambridge courses can be extensive, and take a lot of will to complete and pass in. Right now my schedule consists of 4 Cambridge classes and I am doing my best to ensure I pass every one of them. Choosing this class was a way to take a bit of an ease with the courses, but also be interested in what I am studying. AICE media studies is, like all other classes, one I must pay attention and complete all the work in, so I will be doing all that I must to succeed.

The end of production

 So production has finally stopped. I have to say, this has been quite the experience. From choosing my partner to adding the finishing touched to the title sequence, I had fun the whole way through. I'm so happy that I was able to go through this experience with my friend Wren. The filming process was definitely fun, but we had our challenges. Having to go back and re-film scenes was exhausting, but we pulled through. Editing was my biggest challenge. I worked on editing the film for a solid four hours straight one day. Over time I think I grew better at working my software. Being behind the camera,  however, is something that I will always enjoy. It was fun to play around with all the different angles and lighting. My favorite to shoot was for sure the birds-eye view shot. I had to sit on Zeke's shoulders in order to get the shot and fell over! production: changes made from film review

 After hearing all the input that Paola gave, it was time to make some changes. We had to start by re-filming some scenes. We had a lot filmed with day light, and decided to switch it all to the night. With the darker lighting throughout, the film looked much more put together. having to re-film was really tiring but in the end it was definitely worth it. While re-filming the scenes because of lighting, I worked on the shaky ones as well. We all had to work really hard on putting on our serious face for this to work. I was much steadier and you could really tell the difference. I also utilized the stabilization feature on iMovie, helping to stillness a lot. Next, I decided on a song. I never heard an email back so I went to look for music on a royalty free website. I got a song from the site https://artlist.io/category/92&59/dark&soul-rnb/, there was a song called "purify" by roniit and it fit the film very well. production: film review

Filming and editing is finally complete! I am so relieved and exited to showcase Wren and I's hard work. I asked my friend Paola to review for me. She has taken this class before and is completing her second course this year. All of her work has been done very well and trust her thoughts and opinions. I knew her insight would help a lot and be very valuable. When she reviewed she said the loved the finished product! However, there were a few things that had to be changed. First off, there was no song, this I knew as I was holding off until a possible email back and just explained that to her. She mentioned that the scenes going right after each other had different lighting so they story line didn't match up that well. We filmed different scenes at different times, causing the film to not seem very consistent. Next, Paola was easily able to see the shakiness of film in some scenes.
